thanks galveston!

galveston, what a town!  not only is there a beach with the beautiful (yes, i said beautiful) gulf of mexico to behold, there's more awesomeness to enjoy!!  so i say thanks.  thanks for the country club with a pool.  a place where our kids started to SWIM, AND they serve you delicious drinks in styrofoam cups poolside!  thanks for moody gardens, where there is a water park, aquarium, rain forest thing and one of my favorite quotes of all time.  and thanks for the cool beach house, where our mega family had a blast.  who knew that couch jumping would be the hit of the trip???

big hike day!

some of you may want to skip this post, for there are no pics of the stars of this blog, sunny and wills.  i suggest checking it out though, since it features pics from the day gan gan, brent and i tackled two mountains in the rocky mountain national park: flattop and hallett.  while gammy hung with the kiddos, we hit the trail early and had a fantastic day!  i am not sure what was better, getting to the top, or getting to spend the beautiful day with my two favorite men.

lil' hikers

a hike becomes more than a hike when you are accompanied by the world's most curious and adorable sidekicks.  this was our first year that sunny and wills used their very own legs to get up the trail.  our ventures this year were some of my shortest i can ever remember, but they were the BEST!

then, of course, it's not just getting to the destination, it's enjoying it!  we walked up to the little lake above gammy and gan gan's place several times during the course of our trip and sunny and wills always found new ways to enjoy the beautiful mountain lake.

colorado love

colorado is a special place, in general, and to me.  it is always wonderful to visit gammy and gan gan, and this year was no exception.  it is hard to know where to begin, but i gotta start on trail ridge road.  this AMAZING drive took my family into the magical world of the rocky mountain national park, and me down memory lane.  every one was a good sport as i made us listen to john denver (aka, the music that gives momma the happy tears) the whole way through the park.
